Volunteers are a critical piece of a successful student achievement picture. Close to 2,000 parents and adults are approved as school volunteers each year. They spend hour after hour, day after day, month after month working with teachers, assisting students in the classroom, handling paperwork in the copy or laminating room, assisting students in reading programs, putting together sets for plays, accompanying classes on field trips and even chaperoning dances.
The Principal/designee must approve all volunteers at the school level before beginning the volunteer application process. All volunteers must have a completed volunteer application form, a signed participation and confidentiality statement, and a successful criminal check form in the office of the District Volunteer Coordinator prior to beginning duties. Upon entering the school for volunteer work, each volunteer must sign in at the main office or designated volunteer sign-in area, and wear the appropriate nametags for proper identification.
Contact the Family Resource and Youth Services Center coodinator at your school for details.
