Doug Butler graduated from public schools in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Doug is an environmental engineer with Akzo Nobel Coatings. He has undergraduate degrees (B.A. & B.S.) from the University of Louisville and a graduate degree (M.S.) from the University of Southern California. He and his wife, Jamie, have lived in Shelby County near Simpsonville since 1996.

Allen Phillips attended Waddy High School and graduated from Shelby County High School in 1962 after the county schools consolidated. He attended a tool-die-welding school through the National Guard and taught at the original vocational school. He and his wife, Julia, farm 300 acres where they run a Brown Swiss and Holstein dairy operation. Their son, Eric, is a diesel mechanic.
Karen Pridemore Sams is a 1977 graduate of Shelby County High School. She has degrees from Jefferson Community Technical College in human services and from Midcontinent University in psychology. She has 22 years fiscal accounting experience and is currently the Ryan White Part B Services Program Manager for the Kentucky Department of Public Health/Cabinet for Health Family Services, which involves HIV Aids programs. She has two sons, Rob and Kyle.
A native of Shelby County, Eddie Mathis graduated from Shelby County High School in 1973 and attended University of Kentucky. He followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather by becoming a farmer. He now raises tobacco and grain. He and his wife, Brenda, have three daughters: Margaret, Renae, and Leslie.
A native of Shelbyville, Brenda Jackson is a graduate of Shelbyville High School and Kentucky State University with a degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting. She is a retired employee of the state after more than 30 years, 28 of those as a judicial auditor for the Administrative Office of the Courts. She served as president of the Kentucky School Boards Association.
STUDENT BOARD REPRESENTATIVES:
Lauren Greenwell is a senior at Martha Layne Collins High School where she was selected for Governor’s Scholars. She is treasurer for the National Honor Society, president of the Collins Orchestra, president of the Habitat for Humanity Club, and a member of Beta, Drama, FCA, Shelby Prevention Youth Council, KYA and Lady Titans lacrosse. She is also involved as a youth council leader at Bagdad Baptist Church and a volunteer at Shelbyville Physical Therapy.
Justin Stewart is a senior at Shelby County High School. He plays football, runs tracks and is a leader in the Link Crew, which matches upperclassmen with eighth-graders throughout the school year as a mentor. Justin is also captain of the Rockets football team and is a member of St. Stephens Baptist Church.
