Quality Core End-of-Course Tests PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 16 May 2013 09:43

Students enrolled in English 2, Biology, Algebra 2 and US History courses are taking the Quality Core End-of-Course tests as part of the Kentucky state assessment.  Scores for these exams, which are 15% of the student’s final grade, will not be available from Quality Core until later in June.  Students in these courses will be issued a grade of I for Incomplete until the scores are returned.  A One Call will be placed to students’ parents or guardians informing them that final grades have been posted.  Parents can review report cards on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal or visit MLCHS to request a printed copy.

The Washington Post’s Most Challenging High School rankings listed Martha Layne Collins High as No. 3 behind Louisville DuPont Manual and Highlands in Fort Thomas. America’s Most Challenging High Schools ranks schools through an index formula that’s a simple ratio: the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given at a school each year, divided by the number of seniors who graduated that year.

Titan Parents,

Thank you for your patience and assistance with today’s evacuation due to a security threat.

While today’s events were understandably unnerving and frustrating, it’s important that we move forward and maintain some sense of normalcy for our students.  However, there will be some adjustments for Tuesday, May 7.

  • Tomorrow’s schedule will remain the same with State On-Demand, K-PREP, Math and AP Spanish assessments.
  • Zero Block will be cancelled tomorrow, May 7.
  • Regular drop-off times will be allowed.  All students who arrive before 8:00 a.m. will be directed to the cafeteria.
  • At 8:00, students will be allowed to return to their fourth-eriod class where a teacher will escort one student at a time into the room to get his or her belongings.
  • AP Psych students, whose items were in the gym, will report to the guidance office.
  • 8th grade students, whose items were in the cafeteria, will report to Ms. Jones’ office upstairs.
  • The AP Spanish test will begin at 8:45 a.m.  Those students should report between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m.
  • Students who are absent or arrive after our 8:30 a.m. start time may pick up their items from their 4th period teacher between classes.
  • Those students who have an extra set of keys may pick up their vehicle this evening, but no students are allowed in the building until tomorrow morning.
Thank you again to students for your cooperation and to parents for your understanding.
Principal John Leeper
