Goodbye to fifth-graders
An arch of balloons welcomed the fifth-graders of 2013 into the gym at Painted Stone Elementary on the last day of school. The three classes of students marched in line to Pomp and Circumstance as they smiled at family members before heading to rows of chairs on the floor.
Principal Michelle Shipley, assisted by teachers and administrators, announced countless names to receive awards... Perfect attendance awards were presented to a long row of children for the most recent nine weeks, followed by several stepping forward to be recognized for perfect attendance for the entire school year. These four received trophies with three stars to signify having perfect attendance for three years: Damon Schiola, Olivia Koltuniak, Hannah Holland and Rayah Ross.
Music teacher Sloan Burroughs sat on the floor with some members of the percussion band. She commended them and their parents for coming to school early for the practice sessions. They played Pomp and Circustance as well.

Mrs. Haggard’s Kindergarten students worked hard adding single digit numbers, according to Principal Michelle Shipley who showcased the children in her weekly newsletter to teachers.
