About Us

 The mission of the Shelby County High School library is to ensure that all members of the school community are efficient, effective users of information.  The Shelby County High School library collection houses over 10,000 books.  In addition to this, a professional reading section for staff and subscriptions to over 20 magazines and two newspapers are available.  The library also has an extensive audiovisual collection of DVD's, cassette tapes, and CDs.  Internet connection is available on 30 computers, and several databases are able to be accessed from these computers.   Software applications, like MS PowerPoint and MS Excel, are also accessible to teachers and students for class research projects that require these tools. A scanner, color printer, and CD burner are available.  Ask a librarian for assistance.  

 Hours

 The library is open every day from 8:00 a.m.—3:45 p.m. When Math tutors are available from 8:00-8:25 each morning. 

Library Staff

 The SCHS Library is staffed with one full-time library media specialist.  Julie Webb is a former English teacher and holds degrees from Brescia College, the University of Kentucky, and Spalding University.   Mrs. Webb assists with sponsoring the National Honor Society and is the Sophomore class sponsor.

Dorothy Moffett is the full-time library clerk and assists the librarian, other staff, and students.  She has an extensive background in secretarial work and helps the library run smoothly.

Student library aides help keep the library running smoothly.  They manage the front desk, assist students with checking materials in and out of the library.  Aides also reshelve books, help students find information, run errands, create displays and bulletin boards, and assist with technology. 

Policies and Procedures

 The librarian maintains a policy and procedure manual for the SCHS library.  If you have any specific questions regarding library policies, please do not hesitate to contact the librarian.
