Southside Elementary School encourages student success through high expectations by striving to build teamwork, responsibility and a positive community for all.
History
Southside Elementary reopened its doors for the 2006-2007 school year to accommodate growth of student population in the county. Everyone at Southside is roaring to succeed through its mascot Tigers and the pledge to: Take responsibility, Interact positively, Gain knowledge, Explore possibilities, Respect everyone, Serve and contribute everyday.
Lower student numbers have created a sense of family among staff, students and parents. The community of Southside believes in the vision: Shelby County Public Schools’ Exemplary Elementary School, which supports this community concept that includes parents, teachers, support staff and students, all of whom are committed to providing opportunities for achieving academic excellence and developing social behaviors so students may become responsible world citizens.
