Shelby County Public Schools is excited to offer Summer Enrichment offerings for currently enrolled SCPS students! Our teachers, students, and staff have planned multiple offerings throughout the summer months to enrich student learning, leading, and living. All sessions are free for our students.
How to Register
- Find an expedition that you love!
- Check that the dates and age range are a perfect fit.
- Click on the link and fill out the Google Form for your expedition!
- The teachers leading the expedition will contact you via email with information about your chosen expedition.
- Have fun and enjoy the adventure!
Any field trip offerings are pending approval per CDC Healthy@School guidelines.

Adulting 101 [FULL]
Instructors: Rosemary Newkirk, Leslie Hulsey
Dates: July 12, 13, 14, 15, 16
Time: 9 AM – 12 PM
Availability: 30 students max
Grade: Rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders
Location: Collins High School
Image how much easier your life will be once you learn how to #Adult?! In this camp, you will be learning all things adulting! We will cover lessons from how to budget, how to buy a house, how to prepare a proper meal, all the way to how to apply for a job, realize the signs of an unhealthy relationship and all things in between. Adventures in Agriculture & Animal Science [FULL]

Location: Collins High School Agriculture Department
Students are invited to come explore the world of Agriculture in the Collins Ag Department! Throughout this learning experience, participants will have the opportunity to explore many sectors in the Agriculture Industry, including: Animal Science, Plant Science/Horticulture, and Agribusiness. Archery [FULL]

Grades: Rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders
Location: East Middle School
Did you ever want to shoot a bow and arrow like Katniss or Merida or Robin Hood? Come to Archery camp to learn the basic of archery. Learn about the different types of bows as well as how to shoot a basic compound bow (Genesis). We will only be shooting Genesis bows at this camp and if you have your own you are welcome to use it.

Bike Skills, Drills, and Shenanigans [FULL]

Grades: Rising 6th - 12 graders
Location: Family Activity Center & Silo Bike Center
This is a camp that will focus on the basics of bike skills and handling! A local cycling coach will be present each day to teach and demonstrate the fundamentals of cycling. During this three-day adventure, we learn the basics of riding a bike and developing bike handling skills. Each day will begin by learning how to conduct a bike safety check and how to properly wear a helmet. Basic bike maintenance will be taught, including how to check tire pressure, change a flat, and general care for your bike. Etiquette while riding in a group and on trails will be taught before heading out for a ride! The first 2 days will cover general bike handling skills and drills with fun games and friendly competitions. We will meet at the Family Activity Center. The third day will be dedicated to developing mountain biking skills. On this day will meet at the Family Activity Center and take a bus to the Bike Park in Louisville at the Silo Center. **FIELD TRIP OFFERINGS ARE PENDING APPROVAL PER CDC HEALTHY @SCHOOL GUIDELINES**
**Helmets are required. if you do not have one, one will be provided for you.

Biomed Bootcamp [FULL]

Location: Martha Layne Collins High School Biomedical Science Rooms (Rooms 532, 534)

Book a Trip! Explore the World Through Reading and Making! [FULL]

Are you looking for an adventure this summer? Join us and travel the globe through an action-packed book! In this expedition, we will read 2021-2022 Kentucky Bluegrass Award-nominated Charlie Thorne and the Last Equation by Stuart Gibbs and explore the Media Arts by making book trailers that persuade other readers to join you on your journey! Participants will get to have fun learning through discussions and activities where we will explore topics related to our book that will include history, geography, the work of Albert Einstein, and more! We also plan to have a variety of special guests join us for our class meetings who can enrich our explorations of technology and literature. Did we mention that the main character of the book we will be reading is a 12-year-old super genius who is the one person in the WORLD who can solve a mystery full of spies and danger? Cooking Independence [FULL]

Location: Martha Layne Collins High School Culinary Classroom
Students will learn the basic fundamentals of cooking, students will learn how to cook themselves healthy food options without burning mom or dad's house down. We will finish the week with a BBQ picnic for Independence Day on July 4th.

Gogh to Camp: Art Appreciation [FULL]

Students explore artists from around the world, masters such as Van Gogh, Monet, Matisse and their “isms” (Impressionism, Expressionism, etc.). We will also learn about several Contemporary and Modern Artists such as Mondrian, Picasso, Bearden and O'Keefe. We will create projects connected to famous art work and themes and experiment with artists’ techniques.
