    Bobcat Families,

We hope that your student is just as excited to start the 2018-2019 school year as we are!  At Simpsonville Elementary, we continue to be “ALL IN: Achieving Excellence in Leadership and Learning.”  This means that your student will be a leader in our school through Project-Based Learning and Student Exhibitions, and will continue to learn through collaborative learning strategies, technology integration, and, most importantly, a fun and welcoming classroom environment created by our outstanding teaching staff!

There are several upcoming events that we would love to see you attend.  Our Back to School Bash is Tuesday, July 31st from 5:30-7:00 PM, which is the night before the first day of school on August 1st.  Also, Simpsonville Elementary’s amazing Parent-Teacher Organization is hosting a Back to School Pool Party on Friday, August 24th from 7:30-9:00 PM.  We hope to see as many of you at these events as possible!

Thank you so much for all that you do to support, encourage, and love your Bobcat.  We look forward to serving your family as the year progresses!

    Spring Exhibitions

What a way to begin the first day of Spring!  Student exhibitions were a joy for all who attended and presented. We had over 600 community members join us in exhibitions at Simpsonville Elementary and the Outlets of the Bluegrass.   Students shared their learning and their passions while exemplifying the competencies of our Profile of a Graduate.

What is a Profile of a Graduate?
"A community-wide vision statement describing what a learner should know and be able to do before he or she graduates from the school."
         - Transforming Schools, Bob Lenz

Students were innovators of products that provided funds for Jump Rope for Heart.  Students were critical thinkers as they built structures and analyzed complex problems in our world.  Students were responsible collaborators as they worked in diverse teams and learned what it means to be empathetic. Students demonstrated mastery of standards as they assessed their learning and persisted through when projects did not turn out as planned. That is what we do as lifelong learners.  Every K-5 student improved their skills of being an effective communicator as they engaged with an audience using print and digital media. Our 1st graders learned through a visit at the Masonic Home the stories of the elders and the importance of ongoing relationships as they demonstrated what it means to be a global citizen.

I continue to be amazed at what our students can accomplish.  At Simpsonville we are "Preparing wise students who master standards, lead by example, and embrace social responsibility."

  • A Fall Reflection

Posted by Jill Tingle on 11/29/2017 10:15:00 AM

    Greetings Simpsonville Families,

Reflecting on our events for the year, our Bobcats have been busy at work.  We hosted our first ever school wide Exhibition Night in September.  All students presented their learning in a variety of creative ways in front of over 660 guests.  The partnership with the  Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass allowed us to showcase our work in two locations.

In October our 5th Graders went on a field trip to Junior Achievement Biztown to conclude their Project Based Learning Unit on Economics.  Through the 5th graders leadership, they provided a donation to Simpsonville Parks and Recreation.

November began with a tribute to our Veterans.  Every branch of the military was represented including a World War II Veteran.  The 3rd and 4th Graders honored the Veterans through singing, providing special gifts and using kind words of thanks.

We ended November with a student led drive for United Way.  The Student Lighthouse Team coordinated Penny Wars to collect over $4000 to support United Way.

All that we do supports our school Mission and Vision of Achieiving Excellence Through Leadership and Learning.  We are "All In" to support our community, students and school!

    Way to Go Bobcats!
