Leslie Springston Chosen to Lead Simpsonville Elementary
Leslie Springston Named New Principal at Simpsonville Elementary
Simpsonville Bobcats will be getting “back into the swing of things” with a new principal this fall. When former Simpsonville Elementary principal, Adam Hicks, was hired to serve as the SCPS Director of Curriculum and Assessment, the SBDM Committee at Simpsonville Elementary surveyed families, students, and staff members and created criteria they wanted to see in a new principal. “Building on the existing positive school culture and climate” was one of the criteria along with “makes school fun by modeling kindness, positivity, and happiness.” Leslie Springston fits both of these and more.
“I want to maintain the spirit of the Bobcat family. We will continue to grow, learn and love,” said Ms. Springston.
Ms. Springston wants to be principal at Simpsonville because she loves the Simpsonville community and wants to support teachers and students as they grow socially, emotionally, and academically. “I’m here to support people and develop our lifelong learners. We are going to make learning fun but rigorous.”
Increasing community involvement and supporting teachers as students return from a pandemic are two key goals for Ms. Springston as she takes the helm. “I plan to help re-establish instructional best practices while supporting our staff after a difficult year.” Simpsonville Elementary is “a place where people want to be.”
While Ms. Springston enjoys traveling, adventure and nature, her true passion is teaching and learning. Having served as a teacher in the classroom for 15 years, she is excited about returning to school this fall and getting teachers and students back in the building.
“We plan to build relationships and create a fun learning environment for all students.”
Ms. Springston received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Louisville, a Master of Arts in Teaching K - 5 at the University of Louisville, and her EdS, Educational Specialist degree from Bellarmine University. Ms. Springston also attained a Competency-Based Education Certification from Southern New Hampshire University. Ms. Springston is mom to three children, Lela, Graham, and Allie Wynn, and wife to Eric.
