Andy Moore Named Human Resources Director for Shelby County Public Schools

Andy Moore Hired to Serve as Director of Human Resources for Shelby County Public Schools

Andy Moore will start a new career as the Director of Human Resources for Shelby County Public Schools beginning July 1, 2022. Mr. Moore is no stranger to Shelby County. Having served as assistant principal at Simpsonville Elementary School from 2009 to 2012, he moved on to serve as principal at Locust Grove Elementary from 2012 to 2019 and is currently employed as the principal of Oldham County High School.

Mr. Moore said, “I am thrilled to return to Shelby County Public Schools and be a part of the great work that is occurring. When I first joined the Shelby County family in 2009, I was immediately treated like family.  For years, I had driven through Shelby and often dined at Claudia Sanders and JT’s in Simpsonville.  I knew it was a great community but was overwhelmed by the support I received as an Assistant Principal.  As an elementary and high school principal, I have learned an immense amount in the last ten years.  I am excited to bring those experiences back to Shelby County and be a part of a Human Resources team that ensures there are great teachers and staff to support the students. I look forward to building relationships with colleges and universities to get amazing candidates before our school teams and then supporting those staff members that join SCPS.”

Jill Tingle, Chief Operations Officer for SCPS served as principal at Simpsonville when Andy Moore was Assistant Principal. She said, “Andy brings enthusiasm and a love for building relationships in education.”

Dr. Sally Sugg looks forward to working with Mr. Andy Moore. “Mr. Moore’s successful experience as both an elementary and high school principal will enable him to assist principals with recruiting and retaining the very best staff for our students. His understanding of the K-12 experience and his commitment to excellence will serve SCPS well.”

Mr. Moore’s wife, Paula, is a counselor at Arvin Education Center in Oldham County. They have three children; Jackson, Caleb, and Kenton.
