CUB Bank & the SCPS Education Foundation
2/23/17– Education is the backbone of any community, and Shelby County is fortunate to have caring people who truly enhance the lives of children through their generosity. Among the many partners who share in the responsibility of preparing wise students who master standards, lead by example, and embrace social responsibility, SCPS would like to formally thank Citizens Union Bank for their continued efforts to support our school system.
Most recently, CUB has graciously donated $20,000 to kick-off the Shelby County Education Foundation. CUB Chief Executive Officer, David Bowling, said “CUB has been a strong supporter of Shelby County Schools for generations. Many of our employees are products of the great school system we have here. The Shelby County Education Foundation will be a continuation of that legacy and we are proud to be able to continue our support.”
SCPS Superintendent, Dr. James Neihof shared, “The task of preparing our students for their next steps is one our community takes seriously. The partnerships we enjoy throughout our district are laying a path for success. One exemplary model of that partnership is Citizens Union Bank.”
The Shelby County Education Foundation was started earlier this year with the help of the Shelby County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Louisville. According to Neihof, the creation of a Foundation is only the first step. For it to function most efficiently, an investment goal of $50,000 is necessary. “Once the Foundation was formed, we sought a partner to properly kick it off. CUB answered the call.”
