Mr. Mike Clark Serves as Interim Principal at MLCHS
Over the holiday break, Dr. Joseph Ellison, principal of MLCHS, announced in an email to parents and staff that he has recently accepted a job with Jefferson County Public Schools. Dr. James Neihof, SCPS Superintendent, met with the MLCHS Site-Based Decision Making Committee, on Thursday morning, January 2nd to discuss next steps.
First, the committee agreed that the appointment of an interim principal was necessary. The second step is to initiate the principal selection process immediately in order to fill the job permanently for the next school year. Since the current applicant pool may not be available until the summer, and because it will take a while to fill the position, an interim principal will be in place until July 1st.
The MLCHS SBDM council and Dr. James Neihof have asked Mr. Mike Clark to serve as the interim principal and he has accepted. Mr. Clark served as an assistant principal at MLCHS from the opening of the school until being hired as the Director of Student Services for the district in 2014. He again returned to MLCHS as interim principal for the 2015-16 school year.
Mr. Clark will be at MLCHS next week to begin his transition into the interim principal role.
