District Update and Information

On August 10th, 2020 superintendents from across the state received a request from Governor Andy Beshear to delay "in-person" learning until September 28th, 2020. The SCPS Board of Education will review plans of SCPS@Home and SCPS@School and vote to approve a plan to do NTI from August 26th - September 28th at the August 13th Board Meeting at 7pm at the Blair Center. The meeting will live stream HERE. Click HERE to access a press release from KDE which outlines the four reasons cited by Governor Beshear for his recommendation. He also stated that in order to open schools successfully, he'd like to be in a decline of COVID cases instead of an apex. The last line of the article says, "if a district does not abide by the governor’s recommendation, (Interim Commissioner) Brown said the district can expect to receive a call from state education and health officials."

SCPS is planning to feed children breakfast and lunch through NTI with delivery to the homes. We are reaching out to daycares to find a way to assist with NTI during the school day at daycare facilities. Moreover, we are working on ways to reach our special needs students and their families so that education can begin and be successful. SCPS is committed to educating the children of Shelby County. We are working tirelessly to overcome every challenge that has been thrown our way since March.

Our plans are to resume SCPS@School and SCPS@Home on September 28th.
