Emily Northcutt, MCMS Librarian, Discusses Women's History Month Books with OVEC
March is Women’s History Month and it’s Read Across America Week. Our own Emily Northcutt, the Marnel C. Moorman School Librarian, shared some outstanding reading possibilities to celebrate the occasion. In the MCMS Curiosity Center, books representing Women’s History Month are prominently displayed.
Ms. Northcutt is well-loved by the students and teachers of MCMS and has been a Kentucky public school librarian since 2001 and is a National Board Certified Teacher in Library Media. . With a strong theater and media background, she sponsors and teaches the award winning Media Class at MCMS. Moreover, she has a strong background as a media specialist across the state.
Ms. Northcutt received the 2015 Donna Hornsby Joint Technology Project Award from the Kentucky Association of School Librarians for a collaboration with 8th Grade Social Studies teachers at LeGrande Elementary where they developed a standards-based instructional unit incorporating personalized inquiry-based learning and student-created multimedia.
A frequent presenter at state-level library and EdTech conferences, she has also served as a Digital Literacy and School Library Consultant for the Kentucky Educational Development Corporation (KEDC), was named a KET Education All-Star in 2019 for innovative classroom technology use, and was President of the Kentucky Association of School Librarians (KASL) during the 2019-2020 school year.
