Mary Yeager of the Shelby Regional Arts Council offered a grant to commission a mural to be displayed in downtown Shelbyville on 6th Street for Shelby County Public School students to contribute. Recently, two of our very own MLCHS students were selected as the winner and runner-up! Freshman Isabella Carrasco was selected as the runner-up, receiving a very nice backpack full of art supplies as well as a plaque of her work and a certificate. Senior Sofia Cha was selected as the winner with her beautiful and vibrant mural that depicts many of the influences of our vibrant community. Sofia was recognized with a $100 cash prize, a plaque for her work, and a certificate; best of all, her work will be displayed in public for all to see! Congratulations, Isabella and Sofia.
