Mr. Joshua Rhodes is not new to East Middle School.  He served as the assistant principal there from July 2018 to December 2021. Recently, he moved to Marnel C. Moorman School to help out as an Interim Assistant Principal. When he heard that Dr. Cox would be moving to the Central Office,  he was excited about the possibility of coming back to East Middle in a leadership role.

Prior to coming to East Middle School in 2018, Mr. Rhodes taught elementary school in Jefferson County Public Schools at Okolona Elementary and later at Wilder Elementary School. For one year, he worked with the Kentucky Department of Education as an Educational Recovery Specialist.

Mr. Rhodes says his connections to the EMS staff are strong and he hopes to continue to develop a strong school culture and develop instructional leaders who will move every student toward and beyond mastery of grade-level standards.

“Our exceptional school culture is rooted in how our students feel supported by our school administrators, their teachers, and their families with academic, social, emotional, and behavioral skills,” said Mr. Rhodes.

Mr. Rhodes believes that it is his responsibility to lead so that all students can realize their potential. He knows that family support is essential to meeting the goals he has set for East Middle School. “One of the many things I have grown to love about our East Middle School Community is the support we receive from our families and our community relationships for years to come.”

Mr. Rhodes plans to share a few dates with families so that they can meet and talk in person.
