Ann Louise Hance Is Named Principal at Painted Stone Elementary
(Shelbyville, KY) On Friday, June 23, Painted Stone Elementary teachers and staff gathered in the library at the school. Dr. Sally Sugg introduced their next principal, and there were squeals of excitement as Ms. Ann Louise Hance walked around the corner.
Ann Louise Hance has come full circle in her career. She began her teaching career at Painted Stone Elementary and is now returning to rejoin her school community as principal. From teacher to instructional coach to principal, Ms. Hance promotes empowering students and staff while inspiring them through her commitment to student success.
Ms. Hance is involved in the Kentucky Women in Education Leadership program that supports female educational leaders through mentorship and professional growth. She has participated in the Transformational Change Series, the National Institute for School Leaders, and the Leadership Institute for School Principals.
Ms. Hance describes her leadership style. “Purposely placing myself in the most active areas in the building reinforces my commitment to not only the success of students but the success and growth of staff as well.”
As a principal in Bullitt County Public Schools, she served in two schools with circumstances that required her to work with stakeholders to support the diverse needs of the students. Ms. Hance believes that “open lines of communication must be present while also honoring the confidentiality of our students.”
Ms. Hance believes collaboration with families, staff, community, and students is imperative to answer the question, “Is this best for students?” As staff members shook hands with her after the introduction, a young student who was present with his mom, who teaches at PSE, moved forward to shake Ms. Hance’s hand and introduced himself.
Ms. Hance is excited about beginning her new chapter as principal at Painted Stone Elementary School.
