19 Students from East Middle School participated in the 2025 KYA program sponsored by the YMCA. 2 bills from EMS were passed and approved by the YMCA student government. Students also received recognition as Outstanding Speaker & Outstanding Delegate.

Today we honor Martha Layne Collins: a proud Shelby County resident, graduate of Shelbyville High School, a former teacher, Kentucky’s first and only female governor, and the namesake of our Titans. Governor Collins was a steadfast supporter of Shelby County, its students, and pushing education forward across the entire state; always leading by example and showing just how high our young people can reach. It is an honor to be part of her lasting legacy, and we will continue to carry forward her vision and good work for generations to come. Our thoughts go out to her family and friends during this time.
