Families, can you believe it's already time to start thinking about the holidays? Here is your first "Save the Date" for "Celebration of Lights"! Mark your calendars and bring your holiday spirit with you on November 8!

Girls basketball TRYOUTS will be held on August 19 from 4-6pm in the East Middle School gym.

We're going to Disney World! Another information session for the Disney field trip will be held today from 4:30-7:00 pm. Parents can come to the school at any time during that window to speak with Mr. Floyd and learn details about the trip!

Attention Runners! The deadline for joining the East Middle cross-country team is this Friday, Aug. 15. Reach out to Coach Heady, Coach Farmer, or Coach Harris by Friday if you'd like to participate!

Tomorrow, a new school year begins in Shelby County — but today, over 1,100 SCPS staff members gathered for Opening Day as one team with one purpose: to make a difference.

Attention Disney Lovers! We are excited to offer an optional field trip opportunity for students in 6th-8th grades this year! We are planning to take a trip to Walt Disney World on Nov. 22-25, during our extended Thanksgiving Break. This trip is open to students and their parents. Our trip sponsor, Adam Floyd, will be hosting two informational sessions for parents on Friday, August 8 and Friday, August 15 from 4:30-7:00 pm. These will be drop-in / drop-out sessions. Please stop by at whatever time is convenient for you! (We need at least 30 participants in order to take the trip.)

Attention 7th Grade Families! Each year, we offer an optional field trip opportunity for our 7th grade students! It's the Night at the Museum trip to Chicago, IL. See the flyer for more details. There will be a parent informational meeting held by the trip sponsor, Nura Mandeel, on Monday, Aug. 18 at 5:00 pm in the East Middle Library.

Shelby County High School is still looking for a few more cheerleaders. They will be hosting open tryouts each Monday in August from 6:30-8:30 pm. Middle School students in 7th & 8th grade are eligible to tryout. Please take a current KHSAA sports physical with you to the tryout.

Shelby East Middle School will be having their Back to School Bash on Monday, August 4, 2025 from 5-7pm. Come see us then!

Have you completed your Online Registration yet? Head to bit.ly/SCPS-OLR to begin the process; ALL students must complete their OLR, and it is especially important for assigning a bus route to students who will be riding the bus for transportation.

Cross-Country practice for both middle school & high school will be from 6-8 am on Monday-Friday until school starts.
