In this special edition of the Principal Perspective, we sat down with West Middle principal Artavia Acklin to look back on her 30 years of education in Shelby County. Ahead of her retirement this summer, Mrs. Acklin reflects on her journey from Southside and Clear Creek to Painted Stone and finally to WMS; she shares insight on what it takes to have a successful career as an educator and the importance students held in her heart every step of the journey to today.
We are so incredibly thankful for the lifetime of dedication Artavia has given to Shelby County students. She will be truly missed but her impact will make waves for generations to come! Happy retirement, Mrs. Acklin!
