Simpsonville Elementary students received an out-of-this-world visit today from 2 NASA engineers! 🚀🌑

Alora (an SCPS alumni!) and Zac found some to get away from their jobs at the Artemis Control Center to talk with the Bobcats about NASA and the Artemis program. They shared what their jobs at NASA look like every day, and students got to ask plenty of questions about space travel and the careers they could get at NASA when they grow up! 🧑‍🔬

Thank you Alora and Zac for this AMAZING opportunity!

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK 2026❤️

This week, we celebrate the educators who show up every single day for our students. They carry it with them long after the bell rings, doing everything in their power to build meaningful connections, to show students they care, and to prepare them for life beyond the classroom, both academically and personally. This week, we encourage everyone in our Shelby County community to take a moment and show appreciation for our SCPS educators.

Teachers change lives. Our students could tell you about that one teacher who gets them more than anyone else. And if you asked our teachers, many would tell you they had that same one teacher – the person who showed them the power and purpose of education as a career. And you, reading this, probably have that one teacher who still comes to mind. 💙🍎 #TeacherAppreciationWeek #CompleteTheCircle

A special thanks as well to the family, community members, and fellow students who came to support those who defended their learning; you played an important role!🫶
