Congratulations to Martha Layne Collins High School, named to the 2024 AP School Honor Roll! MLCHS is a Bronze member of the Honor Roll! MLCHS had 41% of seniors who took at least one AP Exam during high school, 25% of seniors scoring a three or higher on at least one AP Exam, and 12% of seniors who took five or more AP Exams!

Artwork from Wright Elementary School is now on display at the SCPS Central Office. The assignment was to draw and color What I Love about Shelby County. Students' art was a part of the Ky Association of Counties Art Contest. Paula Fry Kingsolver is the art teacher. Alexis Kuhn, the PR intern from MLCHS, created the display. #WeAreShelbyInspired

Calendar Update: Due to September 27th's school closure, December 13th is no longer a Defense of Learning Day, but instead a regular day of instruction. The last day of school, as well as any other days off, are unaffected.

Congrats Audrey Wolff! Audrey Wolff, a 5th grader from Clear Creek Elementary, has been selected to be a member of the KYACDA Fall Childrens' Honor Choir. There were over 350 auditions submitted for this ensemble. We are so proud of Audrey! #weareshelbyinspired

Shelby County Public Schools will be closed due to weather concerns on Friday, September 27, 2024. We will utilize a makeup day later this year and announce this later. This is NOT an NTI Day for students.

If the weather is too severe for our students and staff to safely make it to school, we will make a decision and inform the community by 5:20 AM tomorrow at the latest. Shelby County High School Forfeits Game on September 27 Due to Weather and Safety Concerns**
Shelbyville, KY, [September 26, 2024]** – Shelby County High School has announced the decision to forfeit the upcoming football game scheduled for Friday, September 27, due to inclement weather, a recent change in coaching staff, and the overall safety of our students.
Dr. Carla Kent, principal of Shelby County High School, emphasized the importance of mental preparedness during this transition. "With a change in leadership, we want to ensure our students feel ready to compete mentally and have ample time to acclimate to their new coach," she stated.
Athletic Director Charlotte Marshall highlighted that player safety remains the top priority in this decision. "The well-being of our athletes is paramount, and we believe this choice reflects our commitment to their safety and development."
Superintendent Dr. Josh Matthews supported the decision, affirming that the school always prioritizes students in challenging situations. "I fully support Dr. Kent. We are dedicated to moving forward, building a strong team, and finishing the season with resilience."
Shelby County High School appreciates the understanding of our community and fans as we navigate this transition.
